Day One - Home to Renmark

This is the second time I'm writing this. Thanks Blogger for managing to lose my first post.
Right, well, we left home about 0930, about a couple of hours after what I had hoped for.  Never mind, we're on holiday and there's no point rushing.
Car was well and truly packed.  Oddly enough there's more room in the car from our Cape York trip a couple of years ago, which is strange considering I've bought more stuff than I've thrown out (much to Morgan's disgust!).
Rather than drive into Melbs then head west to Adelaide I thought we'd take a different route for a change.  We filled up in Kilmore, then headed via Kyneton, bypassed Bendigo, Wycheproof and stopped for lunch in Charlton.
At the Travellers Rest stop in Charlton, on the other side of the river, there's a big model of a swordfish... Why?!?!  A small sign nearby explaining that it's a Kenyan Broadbill Swordfish, with the 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games logo on it offers no further explanation as to why it's in Charlton.  I mean... Kenya, swordfish, Commonwealth Games, and Charlton... I see no possible connection!!!
Confused, we continued on our merry way.  Morgs kept us entertained with a game of Car Cricket.  It was all over after the first and second innings when she made three and nine runs respectively.
We followed the Calder Highway up through Sea Lake, filled up in Ouyen, Mildura and then blasted our way into the sunset (see photo) at Renmark, where we had pre-arranged a caravan park cabin for the night.
I got up at the passing of the wind of a sparrow and took a few pics of the dawn on the River Murray (they say things backwards over here).  Today we're off towards Port Augusta, hopefully making it as far as Streaky Bay or Ceduna.
Cheers,
Simon & Morgs.
P.S. Crap! Just realised there's a hair on the camera sensor!
